AM EVENING OF JAZZ

Harford Community College presents nationally renowned jazz vocalist and recording artist Jeff Hall with the 3rd Coast Vocals in an Evening of Jazz on Friday, March 9 at 8 p.m. in the College's Joppa Hall, Recital Hall #1.

WHITE-TAILED DEER SURVEY

Harford County seems to be experiencing explosive population growth and not just with humans. Come help determine if the deer population of Leight Park is a healthy size. Come get the scoop on poop and conduct pellet (deer scat) counts out on the trails to determine how many deer call the Park home. This program will be held 9 a.m. to 12 noon for ages 16 to adult. CRITTER DINNER TIME

MARA (Maryland Amphibian & Reptile Atlas) MONITORING

Volunteer to survey different areas of the Reserve to locate and document all reptile and amphibian species. Training will include identification skills and atlas protocols, and a mock survey. This is year three of a five-year survey, and super stuff has been found. Help the Center get complete and accurate count. This program will be held at 1 to 3:30 p.m. for ages 14 to adult. RETURN OF THE RAPTORS

Learn about the birds of prey that hunt around the Estuary Center and discover their migratory stories. Walk the uplands and lowlands in search of these imposing birds. INVASINATORS

Become a part of the volunteer team of invasive plant removers and native plant restorers. Learn why non-native invasive plants are a threat to the ecosystem, how to identify problem plants, and removal and restoration strategies. Wear sturdy shoes, long sleeves, and work gloves for field work in the Reserve each meeting date. Participants receive an Invasinators t-shirt after attending two work days. This program will be held 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. for ages 14 to adult. The program is free, but online registration is required at www.otterpointcreek.org.

"GREEN" TERRARIUM

Bring an empty 2-liter soda bottle and earn a doubly "green thumb" by making a terrarium for growing plants using only recycled materials. Take a bit of green home to brighten late winter days. GRASSES TO THE MASSES WORKSHOP

Learn what submerged aquatic vegetation or SAV is, why it is important to the Bay and how to help restore bay grasses. In this free workshop for volunteers, participants will be given instruction, equipment, and plant material to grow SAV at home. Then, come back this spring to plant the SAV in Otter Point Creek. No experience necessary. The workshop will be held 1 to 2:30 p.m. for ages 6 to adult, 6 to 15 with adult. The program is free, but online registration is required at www.otterpointcreek.org.

The Bosely Conservancy is part of the Otter Point Creek Component of CBNERR-MD. PYSANKY: THE ART OF UKRAINIAN EGGS

Create a beautiful egg in a Ukrainian tradition reaching back to antiquity. Eggs are decorated with symbolic motifs rooted in nature and the cycles of life. (Among the designs used are insects, sheaves of wheat, stars, acorns, garlands of flowers, birds, and mammals.) Each participant will receive a Pysanky kit containing the basic tools and materials required for the class. This program will be held at 1 to 4 p.m. for ages 10 to adult, 10 to 13 with adult.
