In 1942, a secret U.S. military program was launched to recruit women to the war effort. This clandestine search targeted female mathematicians who would become human computers for the U.S. Army, eventually programming the ENIAC at APG. Capturing the opportunities and exhilaration of the times and exploring the moral dilemmas inherent in their work, Top Secret Rosies follows their efforts as these female computers labored night and day to create the mathematical computations that made every Allied bomb and bullet more accurate.

APG needs your input

The Army Family Action Plan process, reviews, prioritizes, and resolves issues solicited from the community. Members of the community submit issues and participate in prioritizing them at the annual AFAP Conference. Issues beyond the scope of the local level are sent to the regional AFAP Conference. Input is needed from Soldiers, civilian employees, Family members, retirees, and youth. Issues may be in any area affecting members of the military community. You may submit an issue in any area you feel is important to your well-being. For more information and to submit an issue, e-mail Marilyn Howard at marilyn.e.howard@us.army.mil or call 410-278-9669. Transportation suggestions needed

As the population of APG continues to grow, traffic congestion and delays will increase and affect the quality of life of the APG workforce. APG, working with Army leadership and the surrounding communities to find a solution to mitigate these effects, needs your help. The Transportation Demand Management Council asks that you participate in a survey which will assist APG officials in determining the demand and interest in alternative forms of transportation at APG. This includes carpools and vanpools as well as mass transit options such as buses and trains. The survey will allow APG to identify the characteristics of the typical APG commuter and thus identify the most effective solutions to prevent traffic gridlock and long commutes. One potential solution is better access to train and bus service in the Aberdeen and Edgewood areas. However, in order to establish trains and commuter bus routes to APG, we need to demonstrate to the state and local communities that there exists a demand. We cannot achieve this goal without your help. Using your AKO account, fill out the survey at: https://www.us.army.mil/suite/page/640015. For more information, call Eric Pilsmaker, 410-278-8607, or email, eric.pilsmaker@us.army.mil.
